Hollenbeck Canyon (#45)

December 9, 2010 - Seriously, this "close-to-home" trail (for me anyway) caught me by surprise. Judging by the appearance of the surrounding terrain you would have no idea of the treat you are in for on this hike.

I enjoyed Hollenbeck Canyon so much that I have since returned on two other occasions to share it with family.

One of the great things about this trail is that you run into very few people on it. A great place to get away from it all, for sure.

When I did run into folks, they were all very friendly.

For instance, meet Erick, a real cool young man who, unfortunately, just took a lesson in why you should wear a helmet when mountain biking downhill at high speeds.

Erick told me that one minute he was jamming downhill and the next he realized that he was on the phone with his girlfriend. The road rash on his face told the story.

Wilson and I dubbed this, "The Finger Rock."

The view down into the canyon was remarkable.

A Totally Awesome Hike!
